Asbestos roof removal process

The process of removing your asbestos roofing sheets.
  1. Before we do anything to find out where we dispose asbestos cement roof sheets safely. Search on the local council site. Blackpool council.
  2. Be sure there is no one around without protective equipment, all doors are closed and people are aware around the possible asbestos exposure.
  3. Make sure we have all the listed tools above.
  4. Use 1000 gauge polythene sheeting to cover the ground and the non-asbestos surfaces to avoid possible contaminations.
  5. Use all PPE from now on. 
  6. Wet the asbestos materials with the wetting agent from outside and inside the garage. Always avoid to break the sheets. (Never step on the asbestos roof as these cement sheets are quite brittle)
  7. If the sheets are bolted or fastened, first dampen them then remove them carefully avoiding any contact. 
  8. Place the bolts or fasteners in the asbestos waste bag.
  9. Carefully remove asbestos cement roof sheets with help possibly from inside (DO NOT STEP ON THE ROOF).
  10. Use the 1000 gauge polythene sheets to wrap the sheets and use the duct tape to seal it. Place these big pieces in a lockable skip. 
  11. Place asbestos stickers every single bag that contains asbestos.
  12. Place the small pieces if there is any in the asbestos waste bag seal it with tape and once we are done place asbestos bags into a bigger polythene bag and again seal it closed.

Make sure all traces and debris are well wet before you remove from the ground. Place those little pieces in the asbestos waste bag then double bag it just like at step 12. Asbestos fibre is an invisible killer, don't let to escape from the sealed bag.

Once we have done the asbestos removal, it's time to clean the equipment with damp clothes and dispose of that with all our protective equipment for the safest result. Asbestos air testing in this scenario is not necessary.

Then the duty holder or the owner/client has to check the job and then we dispose of the asbestos waste on to an appropriate location.
